The term also refers to people who devote their time and lives in searching emo bands online. They try to identify with emo bands through MySpace, YouTube or Facebook profiles. They can make videos of themselves in a depressive state and post them online. Their profiles have many posts about how life sucks, how her lover is mistreating her, and how her day was ruined. They will download many songs from emo bands, rehearse the lyrics and tell people how the song relates to their problems. Most of the stories are sad and imaginary. The emo poser probably has no problems in his or her life, but he or she tries to fit in a specific stereotype because it seems cool. If emo band members are cutting their wrist with a knife, the emo poser may cut his wrist or fake it. If an emo band member is tearful, the emo poser may fake tears by putting eye drops and pale cosmetic.
